Assumptions & limits

Nominal rate: monthly factor = (1 + r/n)^(n/12). Effective rate: monthly factor = (1 + r)^(1/12). This equivalent-month model may differ from bank accrual and posting rules. r is the annual rate as a decimal; n is compounds per year.

Rates and deposits remain constant. Monthly saving is nonnegative. Taxes, fees and withdrawals are not included. Currency is a display label, not an exchange-rate conversion. Real value discounts the final balance by your inflation assumption.

Model monthly savings and compare deposit timing

Check the zero-interest baseline

Starting with 1,000 and adding 100 per month for one year produces 2,200 at a 0% rate: 1,000 + 12 × 100. This baseline helps check the deposit count before you introduce a growth-rate assumption.

A constant rate is a scenario assumption, not a forecast or promised return. Taxes, fees, changing returns and missed deposits can change real outcomes. Inflation-adjusted values are estimates, not financial advice.
