Find the original price before a discount
- Choose “Find the price before a discount”. Enter the final price and the discount percentage.
- Calculate and inspect the displayed formula. Keep tax separate if the final price you enter includes tax.
- For multiple discounts, use the discounts mode: successive reductions apply to the remaining price, not the original price each time.
Reverse a 20% discount
A sale price of 80 after a 20% discount means the original price was 80 ÷ 0.80 = 100. Two successive discounts of 20% and 10% instead leave 72 from an original 100: the total reduction is 28%, not 30%.
A 100% discount cannot be reversed to a unique original price. Percentage change from zero is also undefined; do not treat either case as a normal zero result. This calculator does not determine local tax rules.
