Check fraction arithmetic with an exact worked solution
- Choose arithmetic, simplify, compare or decimal conversion. Enter a fraction, mixed number or finite decimal using a decimal point.
- Calculate and review normalization, the common denominator or reciprocal step, and the reduced result.
- Compare exact and rounded decimal results, inspect a fraction strip when available, then copy or export the explanation.
Adding unlike denominators
1/2 + 1/3 uses common denominator 6 and gives 5/6. The decimal 0.625 reduces exactly to 5/8; -2 1/3 means negative seven thirds.
No algebra, repeating-decimal input or units. Each input permits 30 digits total and decimals up to 12 places. Decimal output rounds after 12 places and is marked approximate; large or negative values remain exact but may have no diagram.
